Your Credit Rating Can be Your Best Friend or Worst Enemy

Everyone has heard the words credit rating when applying for a loan. Potential lenders will evaluate your credit score in an effort to decide whether or not you are a good lending risk.
Your credit rating provides lenders with an opportunity to learn about your credit history, spending habits, payment history and your debt. If you have a good credit score a lender will be relatively confident that you can and will pay back the loan. However, if your credit score is poor, they will be concerned that you will not be able to pay back the loan according to the terms of the agreement.

Your credit rating can have an impact on a variety of aspects in your life. The credit score will matter when you apply for a mortgage for a home, an automobile loan or any other loan. Your credit score is also important when applying for a line of credit. Utility companies typically take a look at your credit score before setting up service. If your credit score is low you may be required to pay a security deposit before you can receive service. This is also often the case when applying for cell phones.

When applying for loans and other forms of credit, your credit rating will not only affect whether or not you are approved for a loan but also how much interest you will pay on that loan. There are lenders who do offer loans and mortgages to high risk borrowers. However, they typically charge these borrowers higher rates of interest since they are high risk.

Having a poor credit score can prevent you from obtaining a new house or a new car. You may need to pay a large security deposit for cell phone, telephone or other forms of service if your credit is poor. You can also expect to pay higher rates of interest if you have a poor credit rating. This is why it is essential to work to obtain a positive credit rating.
